Melbourne Town Hall
This artwork captures a fleeting, instinctive moment from the heart of Melbourne, a scene observed not in stillness, but in motion. The original inspiration came from a photograph taken while hurrying along Swanston Street, heading toward Flinders Steet Station. This image was snapped quickly on a mobile, to hold the moment long enough to revisit it later in paint. What followed was not a literal reproduction, but an emotional translation of place and time, and a happy memory of a loved one walking with me.
Painted in acrylic on canvas, the work uses layered brushstrokes, delberate linewowrk and expressive colour choices to preserve a sense of movement and immediacy. Printed on a card, comes with a brown envelope, plenty of space to write inside, or pin to an artboard in a room, bringing a sense of familiarity and calm energy, inviting reflection without demanding attention, offering a gentle narrative of city life.
